Add-Venture

Add-Venture is a Pocket PC game based on popular board game Risk.
The main goal is to beat the other players and to conquer the whole world as you outsmart the enemies using your strategic skills and your luck. Your opponents will be controlled by computer or by your friends and will try to do the same as you - make important strategic decisions that will affect other players next move.

Basic Rules

The game is played in turns and each turn you will receive a certain number of new soldiers that will have to be placed to your lands in the map.

When you start a new game each player will get lands in random order. There are 42 lands in the game's world map and they will be evenly assigned among all players.

The player that gets to play first when new game is started is also determined randomly.

A land needs to have at least 2 soldiers in order to attack another player's land because one soldier must stay on the attacking land. The more lands one player owns, the more soldiers will be presented in the next turn.
In general, a battle is possible between two neighbour lands, but Add-Venture features some additional game rules that make this great game even more interesting.

Computer players

Because of exceptional AI features you might find yourself wondering is it really a computer that you are fighting here.

Screenshot   There are 3 levels of CPU player strength to select.

Novice players are less aggressive than other players.

Advanced players are able to use their special soldiers more efficiently.

Intelligent players are opportunists. They will be able to plan a hit on another player for cards.

Computer players will also have some of their characteristics like agressivity, agility and defensive skills random which will ensure that moves selected by computer will never be the same if presented with the same problem.
Moreover they have built-in sence of 'fair-play' which allows them to act against the superior player and let the weak players evolve.
Another way to select the game's difficulty is to change a number of total players. While more players will make the game generally more difficult, playing with less players will take less time to finish the game. For example a game with 6 intelligent players can take up to 2 hours to finish and can get very difficult, while games with 2 or 3 players can be settled in 15 minutes.

User interface

Controlling the game is very intuitive and has been specially adjusted for Pocket PCs. Soldiers are placed by clicking on lands. All lands that can be clicked at certain stage are blinking and are easily seen. After a land is selected, all lands that can be attacked from it will start to blink. When dealing with large armies one can click and hold the stylus to move the soldiers faster, instead of making a click for each soldier.

When attacking phase is finished one should click a button in bottom right corner to activate move stage or to pass the dice to another player. Trading cards is also simple: one needs to select the appropriate cards and the Trade button will became visible. Active player's current actions are displayed on the status bar and player's card possesion can be observed above it's special lands.
